    Frankenstein and Adolescence Top Netflix 2026 Golden Globe Nominees 

    With 35 nominations, award season is officially underway for a rousing batch of Netflix films and series.

With Golden Globe nominations freshly announced, leading the pack for Netflix’s films is Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which received 5 nominations, including for Best Motion Picture - Drama. Actor Oscar Isaac and supporting actor Jacob Elordi were also recognized, as well as director del Toro and composer Alexandre Desplat. The adaptation of Mary Shelley’s classic Gothic novel is the fourth of del Toro’s films to be recognized with Golden Globe nominations, following Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.  

George Clooney, the star of Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, received his 14th Golden Globe nomination, previously winning three times for his performances in The Descendants, Syriana, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? His work in Jay Kelly was lauded alongside co-star Adam Sandler, who’s nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role. 

The Golden Globes are extra golden this year with 3 nominations for KPop Demon Hunters. The song played around the world, “Golden”, received a nod in the Best Original Song in a Motion Picture category, and the film also landed a spot in the races for Best Animated Motion Picture and for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. 

After sweeping the Emmys in September, Adolescence continues its awards run with 5 nominations. Owen Cooper, the young actor at the center of the crime drama, picked up his first Golden Globe nod. Fellow actors Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, and Erin Doherty were also nominated. 

This year’s class featured other first-time nominees, including Frankenstein’s Elordi, songwriter and artist Nick Cave, Monster: The Ed Gein Story star Charlie Hunnam, Black Mirror’s Rashida Jones, and Kevin Hart for his stand-up special Kevin Hart: Acting My AgeKPop Demon Hunters directors Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang were also recognized with their first milestone moment, as well as the songwriting team behind “Golden”: EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam (IDO), Jeong Hoon Seon (24), and Park Hong Jun (TEDDY). 

Other series to receive nominations include Keri Russell-lead The Diplomat, the Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys thriller The Beast in Me, the latest season of Black Mirror, and romantic comedy Nobody Wants This, which also earned nominations for actors Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.
