    The Woman in Cabin 10 Rocks the Boat as No. 1 Debut in This Week’s Top 10

    Plus: Caramelo’s loveable mutt captures hearts, and chilling new titles lure in viewers.

It’s not going overboard to state that viewers were enthralled by the new Keira Knightley-led mystery thriller The Woman in Cabin 10. The film, based on a novel by Ruth Ware, reached No. 1 on the English film list with 21.2 million views. Knightley plays Lo Blacklock, a journalist on assignment aboard a luxury yacht who is the sole witness to a possible murder. With its many waves of questions piling up, there’s no abandoning this ship before the film’s climactic and unguessable ending

In the spirit of the season of chillsMonster: The Ed Gein Story claimed the No. 1 spot on the English TV list, rising to the top in its second week with 20.7 million views. In the latest entry of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology series — which ushers in spooky season each fall — Charlie Hunnam portrays the “Butcher of Plainfield.” He’s joined by a star-studded cast, including Vicky Krieps, Laurie Metcalf, Tom Hollander, Leslie Manville, Elliott Gould, Will Brill, and Addison Rae.

Winning over dog-lovers everywhere this week was Caramelo, a sentimental Brazilian film about a stray mutt who finds Pedro (Rafael Vitti), a chef with big dreams and some major life problems, just when he needs him most. Viewers grabbed their hankies and put the film at No. 1 on the non-English film list with 17.3 million views, making it the biggest premiere week for a Brazilian original Netflix film ever.

For more serial killer deep dives, viewers dove into frightening new fare, including the true crime documentary film My Father the BTK Killer, which reached No. 3 on the English film list (5.7 million views). In it, the notorious serial killer’s daughter shares her story of growing up with her father and the lurid revelation she’d come to learn. 

The new series BOOTS, starring Miles Heizer and Vera Farmiga and executive produced by the late Norman Lear, showcases the humor and turmoil of being a closeted young gay person in the U.S. Marine Corps in the ’90s. The series debuted at No. 6 on the English TV list with 4.7 million views and is inspired by Greg Cope White’s memoir The Pink Marine. With its universal coming-of-age themes, the show is already building buzz among critics.

For those who appreciate the sweet treats of the haunted holiday season, Is It Cake? Halloween debuted in the No. 2 spot of the English TV list, garnering 5.7 million views. The spooky spinoff of the hit competition series challenges dessert artists to fool a panel of celebrity judges, including Melissa Joan Hart, Yvonne Orji, Ron Funches, Harvey Guillén, and Whitney Cummings.

Drawn in by the insight only a celebrity tell-all can provide, viewers put the documentary series Victoria Beckham at No. 3 on the English TV list with 5.6 million views as they absorbed the former Spice Girl and current fashion designer’s candid interviews relaying the details of her wide-ranging life. At No. 5 (5.2 million views) on the list is another new suspenseful series, True Haunting, executive produced by horror pro James Wan (The ConjuringSaw). This docuseries uses eyewitness accounts and chilling dramatizations to bring to life two terrifying true stories. 

Leading the non-English TV list this week is Genie, Make a Wish, with 8 million views for its second week in the Top 10. The Korean series tells a story of romance and revenge, as a genie (Kim Woo-bin) is tasked with granting wishes to an unfeeling woman (Suzy). Craving more fluffy friends, viewers put the Spanish comedy series Old Dog, New Tricks at No. 2 on the list with 5.2 million views. The series stars Luis Zahera as a rural veterinarian who reluctantly takes a job at a posh animal boutique that’s managed by his niece (Lucía Caraballo).

The film French Lover continues to enamor viewers, nabbing the No. 2 spot on the non-English film list in its third week and collecting 4 million views. Set in Paris, the romance revolves around a French actor (Omar Sy of Lupin) and a down-on-her-luck waitress (Sara Giraudeau). This week, the all-new movie Swim to Me debuted at No. 4 on the list with 2 million views. The Chilean drama centers on the friendship between a domestic worker and the girl she cares for — a relationship that’s tested by the differences between their two worlds.

Trick-or-treaters everywhere are practicing their dance moves before dressing as the characters from KPop Demon Hunters, which spent its 17th week on the Top 10 list at No. 2 in English film, with 17.8 million views. 

More new offerings on the non-English TV list include French drama Néro the Assassin at No. 3 (4.5 million views). The historical action drama, set in the 16th century,  follows a ruthless assassin determined to keep his daughter safe. The Turkish romantic drama series Old Money debuted at No. 4 (3.9 million views) as it captivated viewers with the unlikely attraction between two ruthless business moguls from very different backgrounds.
