After five decades on stage and screen, Glenn Close is headed to Panem. The eight-time Oscar nominee and three-time Emmy winner will star in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s novel, alongside Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, and Joseph Zada. But before her turn in the prequel, Close can be seen in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) caper from director Rian Johnson. In it, she’ll play Martha Delacroix, a mysterious church lady and one of a few suspects in Blanc’s latest case, which sees him travel to a small church in upstate New York to investigate a murder that defies all logic. The movie, premiering in theaters Nov. 26 and on Netflix Dec. 12, features a robust cast, including Josh O’Connor, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, and Andrew Scott.

Close’s previous roles in The Natural, Fatal Attraction, and Dangerous Liaisons earned her Oscar noms, cementing the actor as an onscreen legend. She would go on to star in comedies like Mars Attacks!, action thrillers like Air Force One, and family flicks like 101 Dalmatians. You can catch more of Close’s work in the movies below on Netflix.

Back in Action

Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) and Cameron Diaz (Charlie’s Angels) lead this action comedy by director Seth Gordon (Baywatch). They star as parents and former CIA operatives Matt (Foxx) and Emily (Diaz), who are thrown, well, back in action when their cover is blown after 15 years. Close plays Emily’s mother, Ginny, a legendary, retired MI6 sniper, and is also joined by her Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery co-star Andrew Scott (Fleabag), as well as Jamie Demetriou (The Roses) and Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights).

Hillbilly Elegy

Based on Vice President J.D. Vance’s memoir and directed by Ron Howard (Eden), Hillbilly Elegy stars Amy Adams (Arrival) and Close as Vance’s mother, Bev, and grandmother, Bonnie, respectively, and details their lives in Middletown, Ohio. Close earned nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards for the role. Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent), Haley Bennett (Swallow), Freida Pinto (Intrusion), and Bo Hopkins (American Graffiti) co-star.

Agatha Christie's Crooked House

Close stars as Lady Edith de Haviland in this adaptation of mystery maestro Agatha Christie’s 1949 novel. When someone poisons the patriarch of the wealthy Leonides family, private investigator Charles Hayward (Max Irons) is hired to examine the clues and find the killer. This movie by director Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’s Key) also stars Terence Stamp (The Limey), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).

The Deliverance

Lee Daniels (Shadowboxer, Precious) directed this supernatural horror inspired by the 2011 Ammons haunting (aka the Demon House), a purported real-life demonic possession case. The movie follows the Jackson family as they relocate to a new home. While there, they begin to experience unusual events that lead them and their community to believe the house is a gateway to hell. Close plays Alberta Jackson, the religious family matriarch. Andra Day (Is This Thing On?), Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), Demi Singleton (Godfather of Harlem), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (Origin), and Mo’Nique (Precious) also star.

What Happened to Monday

This sci-fi action flick stars Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as each of the septuplets who live in a dystopian future with a one-child policy. Named for each day of the week, the seven siblings share a single identity, Karen Settman, and venture into the world only on their designated day under their grandfather’s (Willem Dafoe) watchful eye. When Monday goes missing, the others race to find them. Close plays Nicolette Cayman, the head of the Child Allocation Bureau that’s working to keep the one-child policy in place by whatever means necessary.
